The Wound Care course includes two modules: #500- module 1 and #502- module 2 for one low price!!! #500 WOUND CARE (Module 1)---The purpose of module 1 is to provide information and evaluative techniques to improve the therapist’s treatment of wounds from a variety of etiologies. This module includes a brief review of anatomy and physiology of the skin, wound healing, wound infection vs. colonization, nutrition and healing, wound classification, wound assessment, wound etiology, special tests, therapeutic modalities, wound dressings and treatment guidelines.#502 WOUND CARE: DRESSING SELECTION MADE EASIER (Module 2)---The purpose of this module is to provide the therapist with a guide that can be used in the clinic to determine the best wound care dressing to optimize healing. The module covers current dressings that are on the market, describes the different types of dressings, and points out the advantages, disadvantages, and contraindications of each-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------***COURSE OBJECTIVES FOR #500 (Module 1)***1. Identify functions of the skin and normal pathways for wound healing. 2. Recognize indications, contraindications for debridement. 3. Identify characteristics of local vs. systemic infection. 4. Identify the effects of malnutrition on healing. 5. Identify characteristics of a comprehensive wound evaluation. 6. Identify differential diagnosis characteristics between venous, arterial, neuropathic, and pressure ulcers. 7. Identify indications, contraindications for various therapeutic modalities. 8. Identify treatment guidelines for venous, arterial, neuropathic, and pressure ulcers. 9. Recall the effects and indications of various wound dressings. 10. Identify the characteristics of various wound dressings. 11. Identify indications, contraindications for tissue engineering/growth factors. .----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------***COURSE OBJECTIVES FOR #502 (Module 2)*** 1. Identify differences between advanced dressings and gauze. 2. Identify benefits of moist wound healing. 3. Identify characteristics of a comprehensive wound evaluation. 4. Understand the advantages, disadvantages, indications, contraindications and frequency of dressing change for various generic-dressing categories. 6. Identify 3 manufacturers of wound dressings. 7. Identify different interventions that may be utilized by the physician or therapist with wound care patients.
